PI Miloš Stanic UBFCE

Principal Investigator and WP#4 Coordinator: Full professor Miloš Stanić, PhD CE, is employed at the GRFUB (Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering) teaching at bachelor, master, and doctoral level of studies. He is one of the leading experts for Road drainage systems and Hydroinformatics in Serbia. Besides the two recently published books which strongly correlate with the project topic, he published four papers [M21a] in top-ranked hydrotechnical engineering journals in the last five years (total number of published papers in the SCI list: 11, number of citations (excluding self-citations): 342; h-index: 7 according to Scopus, on December 2024.). Areas of competence: Drainage systems, Hydroinformatics, Optimization methods, Urban hydrology, Deterministic hydrology, Environmental Engineering. In addition to very successful research and university career, PI is engaged as a leading designer and consultant for numerous studies and road drainage projects of primarily ranked state roads (motorways and dual carriageways).

TM 1 Dušan Prodanović UBFCE

Prof. dr DUŠAN PRODANOVIĆ, dipl. građ. inž. was born in 1960, graduated in 1985, obtained M.Sc. in 1991, and Ph.D. in 1999. After graduation he started working at Hidrozavod – DTD Novi Sad, and since 1986, he has been working at the Faculty of Civil Engineering. He was elected as full professor in 2013, in Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics. He served as the head of the Institute, head of the Department, a member of the Faculty Council, president of the University Council of Scientific Fields in Civil and Urban Planning Sciences and member of Council of Scientific Fields in Biotechnical Sciences, vice president of the Scientific Committee for the Management, Protection, and Use of Water, Land, and Air, and until 2022, he was the president of the Assembly of the Institute for Water Management “Jaroslav Černi”. Main research field are measurements in hydraulic engineering, integration of measurements and numerical model, and application of GIS in hydraulic engineering. He has participated in and led numerous national and international projects, with work cited in more than 850 international publications, with an h-index of 13 according to Scopus. He is the author of numerous national and international technical solutions, studies, professional papers and projects. He is a member of IAHR, SDHI, and SDH as well as IKS (design license) and Associate Editor in Urban Water Journal and Water Supply.

TM 2 Nenad Jacimovic UBFCE

WP#1 Coordinator: Associate professor Nenad Jaćimović, PhD CE, is employed at the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Civil Engineering (Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering) teaching at bachelor, master, specialist, and doctoral level of studies. He is active in teaching Computational Hydraulics, Groundwater Hydraulics and Introduction to Environmental Engineering. Areas of competence: Environmental Engineering, Water quality and hydrodynamics of lakes, Numerical modelling of 1D, 2D and 3D open channel flows, groundwater hydraulics and pollutant transport; Urban drainage and infrastructure, rainfall-runoff models; Measurements in hydraulic engineering. He has actively participated in a more than 150 studies, consultancy projects and designs in the field of Hydraulic Engineering, including a large number of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments. In the period 2018-2020, on behalf of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, as a member of the consortium, he actively participated in the HORIZON 2020 project (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Program) entitled "Water Quality in Drinking Water Distribution Systems", responsible for project coordination and development of numerical models.

TM3 Aleksandar Đukić UBFCE

WP#2 Coordinator: Associate Professor Aleksandar Đukić (M), PhD, Civ. Eng. was born in 1965 in Belgrade. He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Belgrade in 1990 at the Department of Hydraulic Engineering, and from the same faculty he received his master's (1997) and doctoral (2016) degrees. In a professional career spanning more than three decades, he worked as a researcher at the "Jaroslav Černi" Institute, a United Nations expert on environmental clean-up, and as an assistant, assistant professor and associate professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Belgrade. His research, professional and educational work is focused on water supply, sewerage, drinking water and wastewater treatment and water management. He published more than 70 papers, three university textbooks and several chapters in domestic and foreign monographs. In doctoral dissertation he investigated pollution emissions from storm runoff from urban impervious surfaces, including roads. His doctoral dissertation was awarded with Belgrade Chamber of Commerce Award for year 2017. He has participated in three Horizon projects and several research projects funded by the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Serbia.

TM 4 Anja Ranđelović UBFCE

Anja is a Serbian Civil Engineer with 17 years of experience in different urban hydrotechnical infrastructure design projects. She holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Belgrade, where she currently works as an Assistant Professor teaching at bachelor, master and doctoral levels of studies. The focus of her research is in developing monitoring and modelling systems for assessing capabilities of different stormwater infiltration and nature-based systems (NBS) in mitigating flooding and environmental health risks and exploring possibilities for rainwater harvesting. Her contribution in RESAFE project lies in estimating environmental effects of use of porous asphalts in improving road safety, which combines both reclaiming of drained water, but also in determining resulting runoff water quality. Anja is part of the International Research and Training Center for Urban Drainage (IRTCUD) which is one of the oldest UNESCO Category II centers. Her professional experience is mostly dedicated to R&D and academia, and she has worked on projects in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Australia.

TM 5 Dejan Gavran UBFCE

WP#3 Coordinator: Associate Professor Dejan Gavran (M), Phd, CE, was born in 1961 in Belgrade. Since 1987 he has been employed at the GRFUB (Department of Roads, Railways and Airports), teaching at bachelor, master, and doctoral studies. Areas of competence are Road design, Urban-road and Airport design and the development and application of CAD systems in Civil Engineering. Dejan Gavran participated as a designer or consultant on numerous highway, airport, railway, tunneling and bridge projects in Serbia and abroad (Austria, Slovenia, Switzerland, Russia, Arab world etc.). He is also an authorized Autodesk developer and the sole inventor of the „GCM“ (GAVRAN – Civil Modeller) software, which is currently used for infrastructure planning and design in more than 200 civil engineering companies across the world. Currently holds the position of the Head of the Department of Roads, Railways and Airports at UBFCE.

TM 6 Sanja Fric UBFCE

Assistant professor Sanja Fric was born in 1983 in Mostar. She graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Belgrade in 2007 at the Department for Roads, Railways and Airports. She defended her doctoral dissertation in the field of road design in 2014. She was first elected to the position of assistant at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Belgrade in 2008, and to the position of assistant professor in 2014 and 2021. The focus of her scientific research and professional work is roads, airports and urban roads planning and design, as well as checking and auditing road safety. As an author or co-author, she has published numerous scientific papers in domestic and international journals and conferences. As a member of the scientific board, she participated in the preparation of scientific and professional conferences in the field of road engineering, both in the country and abroad. As a manager, technical reviewer and responsible designer, she participated in more than 70 projects, expert opinions, studies and technical reviews. She is a member of the Chamber of Engineers of Serbia and a member of the Board of Directors of the Serbian Society for Roads "Via - Vita".

TM 7 Vladan Ilić UBFCE

Vladan N. Ilić is an Assistant Professor at the Department or Road, Railways and Airports at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade. He is engaged in courses covering basics of Road Planning and Design on undergraduate studies and Urban Roads Design, as well as Spatial and Transportation Planning, on graduate studies. Dr Ilić is also a member of Transportation and Geotechnical Institute at the same faculty, where he was envolved in various studies, conceptual and road design projects for most important road corridors planned to be built in the Serbian core road network. As young researcher he participated in national research project TR 36002 ‘’Planning and management of traffic and communications using computational intelligence methods’’ between 2011 and 2019. In his PhD dissertation, defended in 2019, he studied analytical method for critical vehicle swept path testing and intersection layout elements calculation. His current research work is focused on developing of methodology for identification of critical road sections prone to aquaplaning and improvement of existing national road design standards in this field. As an author and co-author, he published more than 50 scientific papers in national and international journals and conference proceedings.

TM 8 Filip Trpčevski UBFCE

Research Assistant Filip Trpčevski, M.Sc.E was born in 1989 in Belgrade. He completed his basic academic studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade in 2012 and master's academic studies in 2013, module for Roads, Airports and Railways. He enrolled in doctoral studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade in 2013. He was elected to the position of teaching assistant - doctoral student in February 2014. From October 2023. he holds the title of research assistant. Scientific-research and professional work is focused on urban roads and non-urban roads. He has published numerous scientific and professional papers in domestic and foreign journals and at the conferences as well.

TM 9 Stefan Vranjevac UBFCE

Stefan Vranjevac, MSc in Civil Engineering, is a research assistant at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade, Department of Roads, Airports, and Railways. His work focuses on the planning and design of roads, airports, and urban transportation systems. He has authored or co-authored 39 scientific papers published in international and domestic journals and conference proceedings. Additionally, he has contributed to over 20 professional projects, including studies, technical solutions, and conceptual/main designs. Stefan received the VIA VITA Society for Roads prize for the best undergraduate thesis (2013/2014) and the Institute for Transportation and Geotechnics Fund prize for the best master’s thesis (2014/2015) in the module for Roads, Airports, and Railways.

TM 10 Miloš Lukić UBFCE

Miloš Lukić is a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade, specializing in the scientific field of Planning and Design of Roads, Airports, and Urban Transportation Systems. His research and professional interests focus on airport, road, and pavement design, with a particular emphasis on applying artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision to these areas. After earning his MSc degree in Civil Engineering, Miloš worked for the prominent engineering company WSP, where he gained valuable experience in road and highway design. He has contributed to over 15 design engineering projects in Serbia and internationally. Miloš is a co-author of several scientific papers and has participated in national and international scientific conferences. TM 11 Nikola Milovanović UBFCE

Nikola Milovanović is a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade. He is currently a second-year PhD student at the same faculty, focusing on the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in infrastructure projects. Nikola Milovanović has actively contributed to the scientific project RESAFE within the PRIZMA program, funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia. His research interests include the use of advanced algorithms in infrastructure planning and design, the implementation of BIM in infrastructure projects, and sustainable construction practices. He has practical experience in road infrastructure design gained through internships and project work, and his research aims to bridge the gap between theoretical advancements and practical applications in civil engineering.

TM 12 Marko Pešović UBFCE

Marko D. Pešović is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Descriptive Geometry at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade, where he teaches both undergraduate and doctoral courses. He is also a co-author of mathematics problem sets used in the faculty's curriculum. Furthermore, he serves as a member of the Commission for Ensuring and Improving Teaching Quality at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and as Deputy Director of the Institute for Mathematics, Physics, and Descriptive Geometry. In 2021, he defended his doctoral dissertation in the field of algebraic combinatorics at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Belgrade. His research interests encompass algebraic combinatorics, linear algebra, statistics, time series, and machine learning. He has been involved in multiple research projects, such as "Linear Algebra and Artificial Intelligence" and "Topology, Geometry, and Global Analysis on Manifolds and Discrete Structures," funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. Additionally, he regularly contributes to conferences and workshops, where he presents the findings of his research.

TM 13 Nikola Čelar UBFTTE

Nikola Čelar is a full professor at the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Traffic and Transport Engineering, Department of Transportation Planning and Traffic Management. His current research interests focus on traffic management in urban areas and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Professor Čelar's professional experience is concentrated in the fields of advanced traffic management, microscopic traffic simulation and evaluation. He has participated in scientific research funded by the Serbian Ministry of Science in the areas of sustainable transportation development and the introduction of ITS on the core road network in Serbia. As an author and co-author, he has published multiple scientific papers in the field of traffic engineering (7 papers published in SCI-indexed journals, 30 total citations, and an h-index of 4 according to Scopus as of December 8, 2024). He has also participated in more than 100 transportation studies and engineering projects in Serbia and the region.

TM 14 Filip Stanić UBFCE

Dr Filip Stanić, dipl. Civ. Eng., is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Belgrade for research field of hydrology and hydraulics. He defended his PhD thesis in 2020 at École des Ponts ParisTech University in France where he worked on hydrological aspects of green roofs with particular contribution to the experimental and theoretical investigation of the water flow in unsaturated porous media. After PhD studies, he started working as a Research Associate at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade on the international HORIZON2020 project euPOLIS dealing with a methodology of urban planning with nature-based systems for improving public health and wellbeing of citizens. Besides that, he participates in another HORIZON2020 project RECONECT dealing with impacts of the Nature Based Solutions in reducing hydro meteorological risks in rural areas, but also in the national project RESAFE from Program PRISMA, related to the effect of water-pavement interaction on the environmental and road safety. He published more than 30 scientific papers (8 on the SCI list) and he is a scientific reviewer in some prestigious international journals.
